Local Authority Initiative of the Year: NEW - Energy Awards 2018
We have introduced this new category to spotlight the important role of local authorities in energy saving and carbon reduction and to recognise all the good work being done up and down the country, often in the midst of diminishing resources.
This category seeks to recognise both direct and indirect impact, so is open both to initiatives within council property and asset portfolios and to resident/user campaigns. With this award, the criteria is purposefully broad, as long as it is a new initiative related to energy – so it could encompass anything from streetlighting to energy efficiency campaigns to specific projects or buildings.
Our judges will be looking for evidence of innovation, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness and carbon-saving where appropriate.
In no more than 1,000 words, please tell the judges why your entry should win.
Bear in mind that this entry is the main way to convince judges, who will not know the detail as intimately as you do, so it is important to set out a structured ‘pitch’, with evidence to back up any claims. The two main criticisms in judges’s feedback from past awards is ‘Did not provide enough a strong enough argument as to why they should win’ and ‘No data or evidence to back up claims.’
